The AECA is pleased to announce that it will be sponsoring one (1) $1000.00 post-secondary scholarship for the year 2009-2010. This scholarship highlights the valuable contribution young people provide through their volunteer community involvement. It is intended to assist the recipient financially to achieve their post-secondary educational goals. The AECA will pay the approved amount to the successful candidate upon receipt of proof that he/she has enrolled in a post-secondary institute in the year following graduation from high school. Scholarship criteria includes....
1. A letter of introduction including career and academic objectives as well as description of other interests or involvements, other than volunteer work.
2. History of volunteer involvement in detail. * This section is very important and should include duties and length of service for each volunteer activity.*
3. Resident in the area served by the AECA.
4. Membership in the AECA in the year in which your application is made.
5. Commitment to attend a post-secondary institution in the year following graduation. A letter of commitment to post-secondary institution on from high school is required.
6. Achievement of an average of at least 65% in your Grade 12 year (as evidenced in mid-term and/or final Grade 12 marks. A transcript is required.)
7. 3 letters of reference.
